Starting out as a passionate nurse with a flair for writing, The Writing RN has evolved into a go-to source for engaging, insightful healthcare content. With over 10 years of clinical surgical nursing experience, she will bring a unique insider’s perspective to topics ranging from Perioperative Nursing & Care for the Surgical Patient, Health & Wellness, and Pediatric & Elderly Needs.
Marcie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from SUNY Brockport and Master’s in Nurse Education from the University of Rochester in Western NY.
After working with the vulnerable senior population for 3 years, she spent the past 11 years working at the Level 1 Trauma Center, University of Rochester Medical Center, as a perioperative nurse. Her nursing and surgical focus has been on Head & Neck Surgery, Neurosurgery, OMFS, Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery, and more. She is a leader, earning her role as a Primary Service Nurse for Head & Neck Surgery, as well as her Certified Perioperative Nurse credentials. Her passion for nursing and patient care shines through with patient education, patient and family communication, and her desire to increase health literacy.
